1. Agreement
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of HiCoCo (“the Service”), operated by the HiCoCo Team (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
2. Service Description
HiCoCo is a subscription-based AI language learning product. It provides:
- Conversational practice with AI personas (“AI friends”)
- An in-app dictionary and vocabulary review system
- Voice message and pronunciation feedback features
- Learning reports and progress summaries
All AI responses, including those from CoCo and all AI friend personas, are generated by large language models. They are not human and may occasionally produce inaccurate, inappropriate, or misleading content.
3. Eligibility and Accounts
- You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you must have parental or legal guardian consent.
- One account per person. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your sign-in credentials and for all activity under your account.
- You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your account details up to date.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, submit fraudulent information, or abuse the Service.
4. Subscriptions, Billing, and Refunds
HiCoCo offers a free tier with limited daily usage and a paid Pro subscription. Subscription terms:
- Purchase location. Subscriptions are purchased and billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play under their respective subscription rules.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless canceled at least 24 hours before the renewal date, per Apple’s auto-renewable subscription terms.
- Free trial. Where offered, any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
- Pricing. Prices are shown at the time of purchase and may vary by region. We may change prices going forward, with notice, but not for an already-paid billing period.
- Cancellation. You may cancel at any time in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings. Access continues through the end of the current billing period.
- Refunds. Refund requests are handled by the App Store or Google Play according to their policies. We generally do not offer refunds directly except where required by law.
5. Your Content and Conduct
You retain ownership of content you create (for example, the messages you send in conversations). By submitting content to the Service, you grant us a limited license to process, store, and display it solely to operate and improve HiCoCo.
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Violate any law or the rights of others
- Submit content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit involving minors, or otherwise harmful
- Attempt to extract, reverse-engineer, or misuse the underlying AI models
- Disrupt, overload, or probe the Service for vulnerabilities without permission
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation
We may remove content or restrict accounts that violate these rules.
6. AI Disclaimer
- AI-generated content. All persona messages are produced by AI. They do not reflect the views of real individuals. Names, bios, and personalities are fictional.
- No professional advice. The Service does not provide medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice. Do not rely on AI-generated content for important decisions.
- Accuracy. AI output may be incorrect. Verify anything important with an authoritative source.
- Safety. If you see content that concerns you, report it via [email protected].
7. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its software, design, brand assets, and curated content, is owned by the HiCoCo Team and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission, except where expressly permitted by these Terms or by law.
8. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and may delete your account from within the app or by emailing [email protected]. We may suspend or terminate your access for violations of these Terms, for prolonged inactivity, or where we are required to do so by law.
9. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide in-app or email notice. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the HiCoCo Team is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction, except where applicable consumer protection law requires otherwise.
